Vedic Path

नगायत्र्या: परोमंत्र: say the ancients. There is no mantra greater than Gayatri – There are four Vedas. Earlier the Vedas, were in the form of hymns (छन्दोमय) and in prose (गद्यमय) and existed as one whole. Later Veda Vyasa divided them into four Vedas. And so, he was known by the name Vyasa.

The Vedas have their basis on the sacrificial ceremonies. Using the Rig (ऋक्) mantras the Devatas are invited and invoked (आवाहन), the prominence of the invited Devatas are sung as ‘Saama-Gaana’ (सामगान) and delighted. The Yajur Veda (यजुवेद) details the methods of performing the Yaaga. Because the three Vedas participate directly in the performance of the Yaaga, they were called ‘Trayee’ (त्रयी). The one ordained as ‘Brahma’ (बह्मा) in the Yaaga must be an expert in ‘AtharvaNa Veda’ (अथववणवेद). Although the responsibility of protecting from the demonic forces that attempt to destroy the Yaaga rests with the Brahma, who with the help of incantations in the Rig-Veda called the ‘Rakshogna’ (रक्षोघ्न) does the needful, there is otherwise no direct use of the ‘AtharvaNa Veda’. Therefore, only these three vedas Rig, Yajur and Saama Vedas are called ‘Trayee’.

The ‘PraNava’ (प्रणव) –ॐcontains the letters (अक्षर), ‘A’ (अ), ‘U’ (उ) & ‘M’ (म) and are considered as the essence of the Vedas.‘Veda Sara’.

There are three vyahruthis (व्याह्रुती) –‘Bhoo:’ (भू:), ‘Bhuva:’ (भुव:) & ‘Suva:’ (सुव:) and Brahma (the creator) by the intonation of all the seven vyaahrutis ‘Bhoo:’ (भू:), ‘Bhuva:’ (भुव:), ‘Suva:’ (सुव:) ‘Maha:’ (मह:) ‘Jana:’ (जन:), ‘Tapa:’ (तप:), ‘Satya’ (सत्य) created the seven lokas. Every vyahruthis has the power to manifest the world pertaining to that vyahruthi.

Ordinarily, within the first three vyahruthis, all the seven vyahruthis are existent. The world we inhabit is the ‘Bhoo’ loka. The top-most is the ‘Suva’ or the Swarga loka (स्वगवलोक). In between is the ‘Bhuva’ loka.

On incantation of ‘Bhoo’ the Bhoo loka manifested along with its presiding deity ‘Agni’. On chanting ‘Bhuva’ the intermediate space between the earth and heaven appeared along with its presiding deity ‘Vayu’. On uttering ‘Sva’ the Swarga loka manifested along with its presiding deity Aditya or ‘Surya’.

Before everything else was present the ‘Supreme spirit’ which is called the ‘Brahma’ (Not the four faced Brahma, the creator). This ‘Brahma’ is also called the ‘Parabrahma’. The Vedic ‘Brahma’ exists as two saktis ‘Brahma’ (ब्रह्म) & ‘kshatra’ (क्षत्र).

The Vedas affirm that the earth is the manifestation of ‘Agni’ (अग्नन) & ‘Soma’ (सोम). Agni is hot. Soma is Cool. These are two forces opposing in character. These two forces come together to manifest both the movable / sentient (चेतन) and immovable / inert (अचेतन्)forms on earth.

In order to easily explain the biggest truth,an activity called ‘Parishechanam’ (पररषेचनम्) of the food kept in front has been established, before consuming. The food that is kept in front is named ‘Satya’ (सत्य) in the morning and ‘Rutha’ (ऋत) in the evening and in the morning, we say ‘I soak you,withSatya on all four sides in Rutha’ and in the evening we say ‘I soak you, withRutha on all four sides in Satya’ by performing Parishechanam. Because we work in the mornings, we need morestrength. Only then we can work with active enthusiasm. In the night we need rest. The food that we eat which is ‘Brahmaroopa’ (ब्रह्मरूप) must provide more power in the morning and rest in the evening. (सत्य) Satya is the static force and (ऋत)Rutha is the dynamic force. This is being referred to the earlier said ‘Brahma’ & ‘Kshatra’. The force that gives out heat and is extroverted is called Rutha. Satya is the force that is peaceful and withdrawn. The two forces ‘Agni’ & ‘Soma’ (Heat & Coolness) come together to bring forth the intermediate force ‘Surya’. It is difficult for Agni in isolation or Soma in isolation to produce a sentient being. In the intermediate solar system, the probability for beings to manifest is high. The Vedas say that Agni has Rutha and Soma has Satya. Agni represents the earth and Soma represents the Swarga. When the Rutha of Agni is deposited with Surya, ‘Somavara’ (सोमवार) results. That fills this world with ‘Soma’ or ‘Amrutha’ Shakti. The different forces of the universe are described as Devatas. These Devatas have pre-defined locations in our body.

The ‘Kundalini’ (कुंडललनी) Shakti in the Mooladhaara (मूलाधारचक्र) is of the form of Agni. That is ‘Chitagni’ (चचतननी). When, the Kundalini is raised and merged with the Sun in the ‘Swarga sthaana’ (स्वगवस्थान) in ‘Sahasraara’ (सहस्रारचक्र) the ‘Amruta’ (अम्रुत) that flows out of the ‘Chandra Mandala’ (चंद्रमंडल) drenches and inundates all the chakras in the body and the ‘Nabhi Mandalas’ (नाभीमंडल) pervading ‘Amrutatva’ (अमृतत्व) everywhere and this is the truth explained in the Yoga Shastra.

To serve this purpose, in the Tantra Shastras, at the time of installation of the Pooja vessels, the spirit of ‘Agnimaya’ (अग्ननमय…. कलशाधार) base, ‘Suryamaya’ (सूयवमय… कलश) vessel and ‘Somamaya’ (सोममय… कलशामृत) Arghya with their ‘Kalas’ (कला) being invoked and worshipped is in practice.

By worshipping Gayatri in the prescribed manner, we must realize that the abundance of ‘Amruta Shakti’ in the Soorya Mandala is capable of protecting the whole earth. The Vedas pray that the air, rivers, flora and sunshine may be filled with ‘Madhu Shakti’ (मधुशग्तत). When Madhu or Amruta Shakti depletes, Venomous forces (ववषशग्तत) raise their heads everywhere. As a result, the very same sunshine, air and flora breed destruction rather than providing health. ‘Prapancha’ (प्रपंच) is of two types –KaaraNa Prapancha (कारणप्रपंच) and ‘Kaarya Prapancha (कायवप्रपंच). The Kaarya Prapancha which is this world was created by Hiranyagarbha (हहरण्यगभव), the Brahma (ब्रह्म). He is the progenitor (सृग्टिकताव). He and the other authorized personas such as the Devas are the representatives of the creative force (सृविशग्तत). The forces that destabilize the creative forces are the demonic forces (असुरशग्तत). The Vedas proclaim that the demonic forces that attack the rising sun daily are destroyed and that the whole of solar system is cleansed of such forces by ‘Sandhyopaasana’ (सन््योपासना). The progenitor himself is used as the weapon (अस्त्र) and hence it is called ‘Brahmaastra’ (ब्रह्मास्त्र). Brahmaastra is nothing but reciting Gayatri in a certain way. By doing this, the demonic forces in the solar system are demolished and this would pave the way for the whole world to reside in peace and happiness.

The nature of ‘Brahmam’ is ‘Bliss’ (आनंद). ‘Lalithopaakhyaana’ (लललतोपाख्यान) beautifully illustrates that in the ‘KaaraNa Prapancha’, ‘Mahaa Shakti’ (महाशग्तत), the root cause of all the worlds, manifested in the ‘Chitagni Kunda’ (चचतग्ननकुण्ड), and made Kameshwara (कामेश्वर) her weapon to destroy ‘Bhandaasura’ (भण्डासुर) along with his headquarters called the ‘Barren City’ (शून्यपट्िन्). One of the names in the Lalitha Sahasranaama ‘Kaameshwaraastra nirdagdha sa bhandasura shoonyaka’ (कामेश्वरास्त्रननद्वनधसभण्डासुरशून्यका) too describes this. As per ‘Sa ekaaki ramate so kaamayata bahusyaam prajaayeya iti’ (सएकाकीनरमते,सोकामयत,बहुस्यांप्रजायेयइनत), the Parabrahma desired to become many. The word ‘Kam’ (कं) means lustre, to desire, to attract. Because the word ‘Svayam Kama:’ has originated from this word, this also represents the Parabrahma Kameshwara, the one who is self-luminous and the one who attracts everything. Kaameshwara’s consort is the Ananda Roopini Mahaa Shakti Kaameshwari who is known by many names such as Lalitha, Sri Maatha, etc.

With ‘Shoonyam’ as the City Headquarters and Vishukra and Vishanga as attendants, ‘Bhandaasura’ was creating a lot of hindrance to creation. Deceit (दम्भ) is his form. By observing his attendants, one can somewhat understand what he was. ‘Shukra’ means the seed –masculinity. The ‘vi’ in front of the name falsifies what follows. Thus, it means the ‘One without masculinity’. Due to weakness, his character and his doings would always be haywire. He will have a lot of complexes. Only a few of the problems related to ‘Masculinity’ is known to the medical world. ‘Chaturdasha vidhi: Shanda: shaastre drushto maharshibi:’ (चतुदवशववचध: षण्ड: शास्त्रेदृिो महवषवलभ:) –So says Narada.

Not having a taste for what must be tasted, an unwelcoming attitude towards such things, contempt, scorn for women right from birth, shyness etc. are the pointers for non-masculinity. This must not be taken as virtues. So also, the word ‘Sanga’ denotes connection. The ‘Vi’ negates the following ‘Sanga’ in Vishanga, meaning the one who has no affection or feeling of connectedness. This is also due to the aforesaid, non-masculinity. With these attendants, Bhandaasura, due to his weaknessbegan functioning against the creative processes. His demeanour itself was negative. Due to the hindrances to the Devas’ creative work, the Paradevata manifested from Chitagni and used Kaameshwara as the weapon and destroyed Bhandasura along with his forces & his city which is the narrative of the Puranas. With the destruction of the demonic forces, the celestial forces became stronger and bore Amrutatva everywhere. The method adopted from time immemorial to bring about such a situation in this world of ‘Kaarya Prapancha’, is the performance of ‘Gayatri Upaasana’.

We now see a lot of ailments, diseases, deterioration of mental health, anger and lust prevailing everywhere. Even in brothers born of the same parents, there is no accord. The world is going on a destructive path. The only alternative to stop this menace is for us to follow the Vedic path shown by our ancestors and Maharishis and guide the others too in this path.

May the Solar system be purified by Gayatri Upaasana. May Happiness and Peace prevail everywhere.
